Everything runs locally. Notchestra makes no network calls — there is nothing to connect to.
No accounts, no analytics, no telemetry. Not opt-out. Nonexistent.
Playback info comes from Spotify and Music themselves, via their own local notifications — Notchestra never touches your listening history or credentials.
Audio reactivity is optional and processed entirely on-device. Notchestra taps the audio your player app is outputting — a macOS system audio tap scoped to that one app. The microphone is never used or accessed. Audio is analyzed in the moment, never recorded, never stored.

On first launch, macOS will ask you to allow Notchestra to control Spotify or Music — that's what powers play/pause and seeking. If you enable an audio-reactive skin, it will also ask for audio capture — that permission covers tapping your player's own output, not the microphone, which Notchestra never uses. Both prompts are standard macOS permissions, and both stay on your Mac.
